She Hearts Polka Dots

Hey Loves,
Hot enough for you? It is too hot for me I feel the need for a vacation coming up.  Once per month I pledge to wear red to promote Go Red for Women and the American Heart Association to encourage healthy heart awareness.  As a child I often heard of people dying from a broken heart and I couldn’t understand the emotional heart. After my Dad had Chronic Heart Failure I was forced to educate myself and nourish him back to good health.  As a result I wear red to promote heart health and I practice a healthy heart lifestyle. You too can practice a healthy heart lifestyle by eating heart healthy foods that prevent heart disease, exercise and manage your relationships and emotions healthily.

Go Red For Women….our hearts, our choice!!!

Hey Loves,
Heart disease is the no. 1 killer of women and its preventable!!!
This past weekend was a weekend of learning and I must say I am appalled at the statistics I gleaned from the Go Red For Women. At a health fair put on by Emory-Adventist Hospital at Smyrna I happened to meet and learn about this interesting group of women that are celebrating 10years of Go Red For Women.

20130508-033250.jpg One in three women die of heart disease yet we have the power to change that!!!!Heart disease can affect anyone and the impact of it has an effect on the entire community. Each year younger and younger people are being diagnosed with heart disease. Before this chance meeting if anyone had shared with me that more than 50% of heart disease patients are in their early 20’s I would have been in disbelieve. After learning these numbers I became quite perturbed as I have had issues in the past with my blood and I can only imagine that I could have been a candidate for possible heart disease had I not befriended my body and treat it right. My body is a holy tabernacle and as a result I have decided to chose carefully what I eat and to give it the proper rest and exercise that it deserves, so that I may stay healthy. Feeling good is just as important as Looking good . In an effort to show my support I have signed up to volunteer with this group of significant women taking strides in being the supportive force behind women with heart disease and to vow to healthier choices in diet and exercise. As a new Volunteer I received a pin of a little red dress such a beauty and vowed to share this information so that we can all choose to beat heart disease with healthier choices. If you are ever feeling fatigued, shortness of breath, having back pains and chest pains please contact your doctor and discuss your symptoms and develop a get healthy plan.

Knowing your family heart history will help you to turn over a new leaf and create a personalized Heart Healthy Action Plan that will increase your life.
