Prints and Blush!!!!!

20140606-101713-37033875.jpg Hey Loves,
The warmer months are off to a great start , I am loving all the trends….perforation, prints, geometrical shapes, florals, brights, neons, gold jewelry, pastels, shorts, skirts, dresses, rompers, maxis, minis, hats, flats, heels, wide legged pants and jumpsuits it’s just endless ways to be fashionable and make a statement in everything, wherever you show up.

20140606-103010-37810199.jpg this particular week I visited with my mom in New York and showed up to church with my friend. After church I quickly snapped a few shots to show my mix of prints and blush being a quiet storm in the warm weather.

Culture, customs and Easter

Hey Loves,
It’s Easter, my second favorite time of year……the luxury of being born and raised in Jamaica therefore Easter is culturally different for me it brings an end to the season of lent and sacrifices….its several days of celebration and a holiday to celebrate the fact that Christ is risen, the resurrection of The Lord, a time for family and friends to get together and worship The Lord. It starts out with Palm Sunday, A must go to church to count down the resurrection of Christ and receive your palms. Holy Thursday everyone does their shopping early as the markets and businesses are closed by noon. People go home or journey to their families to minimize travel and prepare their traditional foods. Good Friday, people eat dry foods and attend church to glorify God, most wear white for the resurrection of Christ as a symbol of Christ’s sacrifice for mankind.

20140418-113910.jpg loads of Bun and cheese are consumed which are filled with raisins and spices. There is a Easter Saturday market day and shopping for parties…..Easter Sunday for praises Christ is Risen. Easter Monday all the children are nicely dressed and off to some type of an event for children. I am sitting here on a Good Friday, I have my worship and then I will visit my family and reminisce about Easter. However no matter how I try its just not the same here, yet I keep my traditions I don’t work during the Easter holidays except for being the best Mom in the World, my most difficult yet favorite job.

20140418-114545.jpgAdter the dark winter hues with it being Spring its best to get dolled up in Easter hues of pastel and look glamorous as well as colorful as the beautiful flowers. For Palm Sunday I kept it simple comfortable pair of black pumps with a green midi skirt, orange silk blouse and cropped capped sleeve sweater with a contrast of orange lips green makeup. Nice array if colors and a simple mix for color block at Easter.

Easter is more than just a Christian belief for me its a cultural belief and I would never wear red on Easter that’s just taboo after all Jesus made a sacrifice for mankind.

For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life. John 3:16

Thanks for stopping by enjoy Easter the best way you know how or start a new just don’t spend it alone.

Giving up What you’ve Got, to get what you Want…..

20131119-073307.jpg
Hey Loves
I have become an Occasional Blogger!!! without planning it became totally unplanned and I’m not happy about it however I just might change up my style to hopefully be able to blog more often, get some Me time and share my knowledge and expertise with my followers as well as attract new followers. So as we all know the weather is changing so now I have to add hose/leggings to my outfits yet I will still rock my skirt and dresses.

20131119-074127.jpg
As I delve deeper into my studies, I am totally amazed at the friends that have walked away as my time lessened, the poor relationships that had to be dissolutioned, at my love of learning, the contributions I have made and the sacrifices I’m willing to continuously make. Each day with every paper I write it seems more rigorous yet I persevere knowing that I am a step closer than I was a few hours before to achieving the highest level of academic achievement. I had a self-defining moment this week and I summed it up as sometimes you have to give up what you’ve got, to get what you want…. Therefore being sleep deprived and constant fatigue is a part of my journey to being a philosopher and moving into the millionaire club and I’m not giving up despite the rigor, weight gain, sleep deprivation, fatigue, loss of friends, broken promises, and countless other activities. I would rather give up every material thing that I own for the opportunity to achieve my goals.

20131119-075702.jpg So when I ran out to church a few Sundays ago I reached for an outfit that I had been longing to wear, 2 gold fashion jewelry necklaces a choker and a long necklace to recreate an ’80s hip hop look, the denim top is a repeater however this time its incorporated with a black mullet pleated skirt, a bold gold elephant belt and a simple pumps, as it has gotten cooler just add a pair of leggings or hose for warmth and you can achieve the same look.

Life Happens, there will be hurdles to overcome and there will be bumps in the road…..what matters is how we cope!!! be willing to Give up what you’ve got, to get what you want, the end result is often greater. As we all know financial freedom and good mental health is equal to a lifetime of wealth.

Stay tuned

How to rock the Cozy Coral asymmetrical BCBG Reese dresses…

Hey Loves,
This spring I came across lovely asymmetrically three quarter designed Eddie dresses by BCBG and of course i couldn’t resist purchasing or deciding on a single color so i bought btred which is like crimson red and the blue navy which is like midnight blue. A month later I see the asymmetrically designed dresses sleeveless in coral, ivory and mint….. and they were having a sale. Being a glutton for good prices and the lady that loves being in a dress I found myself at home with two more of these BBCG dresses and yes they are different because the newest ones are titled Reese dresses while the sleeved ones are Eddie…. I had fallen in love with Eddie and Reese dresses by BCBG because of their shape, design, the softness of the material, the ability to go from day to night in them as they can be casual or dressy depending on the event and they can be worn belted for a closer fit or unbelted as it was intended for a loose fit and overall the colors look great……they are just so fabulous.

The coral Reese dress and the navy Eddie dress

When Belted the coral Reese dress looks more like a mullet dress than an asymmetrical dress making it appear transformable. These dresses are amazing and have become an integral part of my wardrobe though I am yet to wear them all I know they will be worn eventually and will stay in my closet forever. This past Sunday I got the opportunity to wear the coral Reese sleeveless dress to church where in i belted it so here are a few pics.

Paired with a dark wine/burgundy belt and shoes spiced up with gold accessories for contrast this simple dress became a hot little number and could have gone to another event after church.

Thats just one of the many ways to wear the asymmetrical Coral BCBG Reese dress
simple yet transformed into elegance simply by adding a belt.

Until next time thanks for stopping by and checking out my blog, and for my faithful followers forgive me on the days when I am unable to share. This Fall season I hope to blog at least 3times per week.

Peach Floral skirt for a Strawberry Margarita

Hey Loves,
It has been raining so much in Atlanta that our rainfall is comparable to that of Seattle. Now we all know if our rainfall is comparable to that of Seattle then that’s a whole lot of rain. In the summer months I only like wearing shorts, skirts or dresses, therefore the rain messes up my wardrobe as I don’t like my toes and legs getting wet when I’m dressed to go out. I missed a few events as a result so I feel kind of out of the loop right now. Anyway while writing my 2nd 20page research paper this weekend my dear girlfriend called and wanted to meet for an appetizer/cocktail, since we hadn’t been out all summer. I readily agreed and it was difficult finding something to wear because of the rain. Well by the time I got done stuffing myself into a floral skirt the rain held up.

So we met up at Saigon Cafe, but then they didn’t serve cocktails; so we left and went to Red Lobster where cocktails are always divine, smooth and tasty. I had a strawberry margarita and my friend opted for a colada they were both so refreshing. Of course we had girl talk, life being us, business plans, single life and dating as a Christian woman, difficulties in meeting guys of high caliber with good values and staying away from those with different values, wants a handout or a maid…lol we are women of God yet we are humans therefore we live the same life like everyone else we just walk differently. When it was time to part it seemed as if we had spent an entire day together when it was literally 2hours and time for me to head back to my research paper. Until then…….Good friendships are few and far in between, I value my friends and our friendships!!

DIY: Edgy chic, blue denim

Hey Loves,
It has been raining all week on and off and I must say I’m loving the weather. I don’t enjoy hot weather as air conditioning is not an ally of mine. So the weather has been pretty cool and my flowers are enjoying pure rain water…..heavenly I guess, as they seem brighter and the grass lushed.

20130620-075658.jpg I have been asked countless times to blog about denim however, it seems such a task, yet I’m going to give it a shot after all I do wear denim sometimes. I am not an uber fancy chic lady or so but with a change in personal climate then gone are my designer denim days when it was okay to buy denim every week. Being the skirtinista that I am I can be edgy chic in a blue denim skirt and yes you can DIY

20130620-081558.jpg
I know its almost summer, despite the recent showers we have been blessed with extremely warm temperatures. I know for some people denim is an integral staple in their wardrobe, some wear denim all year, some must wear denim to work or better yet some fashionably loves denim. Well we can all learn to love denim if and when we wear them well. To style a simple denim skirt as the one lined out to dry just pair it with a regular career button down blouse, fold back the sleeves to elbow length and accessorize with a belt and fashionable jewelry. This jazzes up the denim skirt look becoming edgy, chic and preppy in denim. Yes the denim skirt, gets transformed

20130620-082500.jpg

20130620-082527.jpg to complete the look, add a pair of loafers or comfy summer sandals. Voila DIY: edgy chic, fashionable blue denim.

Floral print career blouse – Forever 21
Red jelly bottom sandal – French Connection

Standing outside in the drizzle of the rain is so romantic, especially when there is someone to share the moment with, just look around and everything just looks bright and shiny bellowing words of thank you from the earth/soil for quenching its thirst.

DIY be creative with pairing your denim pieces fashionably, I will try my best to post more about denim as a fashionable staple in the future.

Work Mode 14- the last day of school

Hey Loves,
After 180 school days the time has come to close the door on being the educator for the summer. For this last day in work mode I wore a colorful floral skirt contrasted with a solid green career button down work shirt paired with heels. Quite different from my regular work gear in ballet flats and slacks. I felt it was a special kind of day and I envisioned a glass of Riesling at the end of a long day to celebrate 2months of not waking up @6am for work.
