You’re not Super Woman

So often we are lead to believe being Super Woman is a way of life and the way God intended for us to live our lives.  So not true biblically we know the seventh day is considered a day of rest so then why do we continue to work everyday? 

  Well today I am making it A day of rest after church- Because I know God only made one of me therefore I often have to power down and administer selfcare  and today is one of those days because I’m not Super Woman…though our society teaches us to dwell on multi-tasking and  consider us successful as we appear to be getting things done; nevertheless  in the end we are exasperated, we suffer from exhaustion, anxiety and cognitive overload. I move at Gods pace and what he wants me to do he will lead. Success is my very own definition of doing what makes me happy or what I think is best for my family. The virtue of Patience….blessed is she

Hey Loves,

“And blessed is she that believed: for there shall be a performance of those things which were told her from the Lord.” Luke 1:45

As I sat in devotion this morning I chose to focus on this particular scripture that I had received from a friend. I found it fitting as everyone seems to be living rather spontaneously. We live in a society which makes everything available at our fingertips so we have lost the virtue of patience. The few of us whom still enjoy shopping away from our computers, When we walk into a store we don’t expect to encounter a line or have someone wait on us. We are microwaving most of our experiences and as a result the relationships we form are in quantity however not of high quality.

We often need to stop and think do we need 5000 friends on social media or do we need friends whom we actually know and can relate to? Friends whom are supportive of us should be the only ones we need in our circles. It is good to have a global connection and relationships with others but it’s even greater when we have a personal relationship with God. The word of God promises to bless us and pour into us, God gave his only begotten son for us. Yet we often wonder why we experience the struggles that we do and think all is against us. As believers we ought to encourage and nourish our faith so that we can hear the voice of God. Know that while we are being impatient God is working diligently for us, it may not be when we expect things to happen for us but in the time that God deems it right for us. Think about it without a test we would have no testimony and without being a victim we would not be a victor. God loves victories and that’s why we encounter struggles so that by overcoming them we are able to share our victories and make a believer of the non-believer.

October is the month of awareness: get educated

Hey Loves,
October is often significant of changes as the leaves turn into beautiful colors and then color the lawn. Women slip into a different mode if dress as they embrace cooler temperatures. October however, is also a month of awareness: yes this one month is shared by Breast a Cancer awareness and Domestic Violence awareness as well as Mental Illness awareness week. oh yeah and these are all important as they all impact each other based on the psychosocial stressors which are likely to be experienced with occurrences. Get educated on what we can do to fight breast cancer, end domestic violence abuse, diagnose and treat mental illness

The Healthy Heart Series

Hey Loves!
With so many people focusing on health and fitness I wanted to take it a step further and focus on the “heart”….yes the major muscular organ which pumps blood throughout the blood vessels to various parts of our body.  To do so I teamed up with Heart Health coach and relationship expert “Sharon Reid” to network and teach heart health.

To kick off the first event we focused on the heart as an organ of spiritual, emotional and physical aspects and how to protect or guard your heart because the three parts can be affected by heart disease and other ailments.

The spiritual heart is non physical it is your inner treasure the center of your feelings, which is located to the right side of your physical heart.

The emotional heart is the deep emotions that you feel for or towards others. It is the center of wmotion and is located to the left of the physical heart. Being receptive to your emotional state it experience s many feelings from joy to grief. So any kind of disappointment,  death of a loved one, rejection is stressful on the emotional heart.

The physical heart is our actual heart which pumps the blood throughout our body and is affected by every spiritual or emotional feelings that the body experiences. When you are excited the heartbeat pumps more forcefully and when we are stressed or disappointed it wreaks havoc by stunning the heart with extreme shock.

We ought to take care of our hearts by ensuring that we are balancing our emotions, eating healthy and exercising.  It takes maintenance to keep your heart healthy.  A happy heart keeps you happy and keeps your heart healthy.

Freedom from strongholds…….fear unleashed

Hey Loves,
We all have things, or habits that we like to do but sometimes they consume so much of our time that they become unhealthy. Does that sound like you? well you can stop being a hostage to those habits or things. Anything done in exCess can become a stronghold…..

My days seem to stay the same or sometimes get busier than ever though My phone rings much less than it used to as I realize there is a freedom all over me! Yes, I feel free, freedom from everything that held me back. Just being fearful of everyone and everything…..those fears don’t live here anymore. I have unleashed those fears and I am ready to walk in my purpose. Think about it, don’t you sometimes wish you could just be free and do that which makes you happy . of course you can do so but in order to do so you have to focus on what is holding you back. Being able to recognize the strongholds in your life will help you to let them go. After all think about it if you don’t know something is a bother then of course you won’t be bothered by it. Late post from last week’s movie outing.

20140626-125849-46729700.jpg Though it may take much meditation for acceptance of the strongholds in your life just remember denial is always the first step so if you are denying what it is that’s holding you back from your purpose then that’s it. You see if it isn’t pushing you forward then its a stronghold which creates excuses for you to stay the same.

Giving up the title “Queen of Junk”

Hey Loves,
As the days go by I try to eat healthier, by trying to reduce the amount of foods that include sugar, salt and wheat. To my dismay no matter how the day starts off good once I sit down to work I start craving junk food. So I have been training my mind to like fruits such as cherries, blackberries, raspberries, blueberries…..even bought a bowl made just for berries (lol). I must say I will eat them all and still crave all the junk in the pantry or refrigerator.  A bowl of ice cream and a slice of cake will do me just fine and I will read and write until the wee hours of the morning.  Lack of sleep, almost no exercise or activity and constantly eating junk while working and studying at home packed on the weight.  When my dresses got tighter, I moved up a few dress sizes I realized how curvy I had become yet my patterns was yet to change.

I would have my almost vegan/vegetarian dish comprising of just vegetables and sometimes a bit of pasta or mashed potatoes and once in a while some seafood.

I don’t cook much chicken unless I am grilling/jerking chicken for a barbecue, however I will eat chicken when I am dining out and not certain as to what I should eat.
wwwwwooooooooooowwwweeeeeeee lately my allergies have been all out of sorts limiting my exposure to the sun, most foods gives me a tingly reaction in the back of my throat and I am learning to read labels as most packaged items contain more than you would think for shelf life. This Spring I was sick repeatedly only to find the culprit was not 100% natural juice as the label mentioned.

I will never drink another naked drink in my life, it is poisonous to my body when I wanted to eat better I thought it would help me instead it made me truly sick for over 3 weeks, urgent care and doctor visits. I♡me too much to ever poison my body…..on that note I had a food allergy test done and to my amazement my body was full of toxins as I was poisoning and shocking my body on a daily basis. Foods that should be good for me was of high intolerance by my body.  My vegan/vegetarian meals would have to change and so would my snacks.  Uh oh Food Management….I am giving up my title I am no longer the Queen of junk!!

My fruits are neatly sliced up for juicing or smoothies and they are quite tasty/delicious but I can’t have some of them either so the types of fruits and vegetables I use will be different going forward after today. This detox homemade fruit/vegetable drink:
celery, orange, apple, ginger, beet, cucumber, and carrots. Gives a full day worth of vitamins and minerals to one’s body and helps to remove some toxins from ones body.

I must remove those to which my allergic reaction are medically high and are an intolerance by my body such as: beets, oranges, lemons, and apples. Beets were supposed to help improve my low iron condition since I have never eaten red meat my entire life……oh well at least I tried. It hurts mentally to make such a big change in my diet and having to be conscientious of labels however I understand life is too short to live hurting from poor food choices. ****So long to intolerant foods and junk!!

The weight has started to lift it’s ugly heads since I have been more careful in what I put in my tabernacle. ..I am allergic to lemon so there will be no lemon pepper wings, no lemons in my water and no lemon cake!!!

Sometimes you have to Detoxify your body and your relationships

Lately, I have been thinking about relationships, I have been counseling others, reading about relationships and basically surveying the relationships I share with others. Despite the type of relationship I have determined that not all relationships are deemed healthy. A) Though we may have to be in a relationship with someone we may not personally like them, however based on the context of the relationship you may have to deal with them. So how to deal with that person at work with whom you can’t get along? Understand that it is ok to have single relationships with someone though you work well together you don’t have to be friends. The moment you know this and understand this it will detoxify your mind and body of unhealthy relationships

20140618-081003-29403558.jpg B)So you grew up with someone or you were the closest of friends with someone and overtime you realize the relationship is changing, you don’t see much of each other and when you do then there are disagreements about everything or almost everything. You are trying to save your friendship because you have history together, you try to hash it out however, it’s more arguing and hurting of each other’s feelings than ever, then guess what despite the years or time invested in this relationship understand that you will sometimes have to let go of some people that are familiar by giving them the latitude they need. Yes it may be very emotional as we are humans and we love familiarity yet everyone that starts with you will not finish with you some people become toxic you then have to detoxify that relationship.

C) Sometimes you have your family members and you love them so much however, every time you get together at family functions it turns into rage, anger and family feuds. They always have something negative or hurtful to say to someone and it’s just always upsetting to one or more other family members. They sometimes do activities which are not acceptable by the family which makes them look for negativity to highlight at family events or just talk about unnecessary things which are likely to hurt the feelings of some family members. Ooh yes you need to detoxify yourself of this relationship, observe the activities of your family member overtime to ensure that it is truly a toxic relationship. Review the relationship to see why the family member is always acting out and inflicting emotional pain. Reason with yourself : is there a way you can reach this person, in getting them to understand the repercussions of their behaviors? If not then guess what, act slowly but surely remove yourself by telling your family member that being family is not a choice but maintaining a toxic relationship is a choice so unless they can curve or change their behaviors then by all means you will need to dissociate from their company.

20140618-084741-31661554.jpg While working on detoxifying your relationships it is also super awesome for you to do an emotional self evaluation to ensure that you have not become toxic as well. Sometimes it’s easier to recognize the toxins in others unlike those within yourself. Be honest when you critique yourself as you too can become toxic and vulnerable based on situations. If you are content with the person you are and the way you treat your friend, family, coworkers and every relationship then by all means congratulations you are engaging in success relationships. If you are not content then reexamine you and your relationships its time to detoxify.
