After weeks of being away from my blog and sharing with you, the consensus has been screaming I miss your blog. It’s truly amazing the different groups of people whom have come forward and spoken about what I considered just rambling and showing my life through pictures. Well, as the world grows louder, I will return to writing and sharing on the blog however it won’t be a fashion blog because I am more than Fashion. Yesterday when I woke up for work I paused to think how blessed I am each day I get to decide which role I want to play because I wear so many hats.
My favorite roles however are Mom and woman of God. . My son is my everything and God is at the forefront of everything that I do. As the world grows louder, we become more tech savvy and our minds are invaded by everything we see or partake in. As a woman of a God I have to ensure that the distractions of society does not separate me from quality time with God. Daily prayer and meditation with praise music helps to keep me focused and in wait to sense God’s will.
In writing this I just wanted to share that it is God’s will for me to share my pictures and words with the world. When you learn to trust God it makes a difference in your life and no matter when the world seems to be caving in, you will have an anchor, yes God will be your support. That’s right God’s love and support never changes. Turn to him for strength and support in all your endeavors.
So after work it was a birthday celebration for my high school friend Mourine and as women of God and business partners we all had a great time at the Mall and dinner. Being a woman of God is not boring. We all have fun looking our best and live full normal lives, we just made the choice to walk with God and surround ourselves with like minded people. We are women of God, we are created to Flourish, therefore we uplift each other because we Love God more than I love polka dots!! Welcome Back, I missed you also!!!
It seems like yesterday that I was introduced to the lovely Miss Jasmine Crowe at an award show honoring Toya Wright for her philanthropic work in the Black Community. I can’t believe it was a year ago I vowed to work with Jasmine in giving of my time and services as a parent liaison or mental health counselor to children. Unfortunately, I had just started my PhD classes and my time was limited with my other volunteer activities with the American Red Cross and Dress for Success Atlanta. However as time would have it Jasmine is hosting her award show again and this time she is honoring Tamika Raymond and other philanthropists and organizations for their diligent work and support in our community.
Posed with the lovely Philanthropist Miss Jasmine Crowe
Unfortunately I missed out on most of the award ceremony (flat tire) but I still showed up and better yet I now have my schedule worked out wherein I can start giving back to our community and pouring into children who can and will grow up to be like me or achieve more than me.
Jasmine and some of the powerful moments of the night. I was quite impressed that Marley is also a philanthropist I can only say well done again Jasmine and congratulations to Marley.

Well if haven’t learned anything the most valuable thing I pride myself on knowing is Philanthropy~the art of giving back and pouring into others is a blessing! a feeling of accomplishment in itself.
At the end of the night I was glad I came out to support and solidify my promise to give back.
We all have things, or habits that we like to do but sometimes they consume so much of our time that they become unhealthy. Does that sound like you? well you can stop being a hostage to those habits or things. Anything done in exCess can become a stronghold…..
as the days go by I am surrounded with people whom all have so much to say or do. My days seem to stay the same or sometimes get busier than ever though My phone rings much less than it used to as I realize there is a freedom all over me! Yes, I feel free, freedom from everything that held me back. Just being fearful of everyone and everything…..those fears don’t live here anymore. I have unleashed those fears and I am ready to walk in my purpose. Think about it, don’t you sometimes wish you could just be free and do that which makes you happy . of course you can do so but in order to do so you have to focus on what is holding you back. Being able to recognize the strongholds in your life will help you to let them go. After all think about it if you don’t know something is a bother then of course you won’t be bothered by it. Late post from last week’s movie outing.
Though it may take much meditation for acceptance of the strongholds in your life just remember denial is always the first step so if you are denying what it is that’s holding you back from your purpose then that’s it. You see if it isn’t pushing you forward then its a stronghold which creates excuses for you to stay the same.
Be strong enough to recognize the strongholds, to be able to boot them out of your life, and stop being a hostage from whatever is holding you back. Reclaim you today…..unleash!!!
At a certain age it’s as if the dictators of society expect you to have jumped the broom or settled cozily into a lifestyle, compromising as best or settling just to make it work. Unfortunately for some of us (yes myself included) there comes a time when enough is enough and you have to let go of the familiar and head for the unknown. After healing and breaking free from all that seemed to drag you down and create bittersweet memories for you its time to start dating again. This time around it is supposed to be much easier because you know what you want and what you are not willing to tolerate. It’s like you have been given a sixth sense to weed out the undesirables of dating . This maybe because you are thinking just about yourself and your needs but what about the person who is interested in you; do you just shut them down coldly or do you give them a chance? . Well the majority of my single and dating mature friends are of the consensus that they should just be frank and say no this won’t work after one date and are quick to withdraw into their cocoon . Lol…as for me I will date someone as long as they have great conversation and similar interests because I know everyone needs someone to talk with about life. To my surprise dating doesn’t get any easier, the timeframe or the span on dating does get shorter as you get older however some people mature and develop better relationships based on past experiences as well as others are still not sure how to maintain dating, baggage and friendship. Dating at a mature age should mean that you have unpacked your baggage and you know how much you are willing to compromise for great companionship. To all my lovely mature singles: just remember dating is a 2way event so the other party might not be too thrilled with some things about you either! stay tuned for more on mature dating…….

On one particular Saturday I realized I had quite a few events in which I was expected to show up….that’s a bit much but Its my best to be in demand and stay visible in this lucrative market. So after being sick all week I dragged myself out and about. The best part was being able to drag my friend Danetta with me all day. For this event filled day with the weather breaking into beautiful Spring weather I wore a Peter Pan style collar dress made of jersey material in a soft grey hue with an off white collar. To dress it up I added a wide gold metal belt , paired it with a safe black pumps and added a colorful golf bag for a splash of color….
At church: women’s ministry brunch, got some goodies and some nuggets to help in my spiritual walk
The 2nd event: the grand opening of FLYCHIXboutique in the Edgewood area of Atlanta. Spotted with Danetta and Ebonie Ward (boutique owner) received a bag of goodies and just had to purchase a new black skirt. >
What I can say is I had a blast……. After being sick all week it was great to be out and finally enjoy a meal. Though having multiple events in one day can be extremely exhausting, I have learned that being comfortable in your attire will definitely make your events more pleasant So when you are dressed for any event make sure you are comfortably dressed so that you can make the most out of your event. Until next time just remember you can transform a simple outfit with your accessories add a belt or fashion jewelry
It’s the end to the week and a start to the weekend. Was it a great week? Or is it the start to a great weekend? well it depends on your mental health status!! The way we do things and our behaviors are shaped by our mental health status.Healthy minds create healthy thoughts and shapes our behaviors accordingly. Therefore if you are mentally well then by all means you will feel better physically, contribute more to society and maintain healthy behaviors. It is important to acknowledge or recognize when someone around us has a mental health problem as early detection and treatment can save them from further treacherous behaviors. The simplest of things or events may push someone to the edge or so close that they develop anxiety attacks, panic attacks, sleeplessness, sweat, irregular body temperature, withdrawal from others, incoherent speech, salad talk, attraction to dangerous behaviors. Mental health education and awareness should be taught in school to everyone, as well as posters should be everywhere to encourage maintaining good mental health. After all it is vital to our success in life so many shortcomings can be attributed to a break down or shift in routine without any source of support.
